The 2008 Distinguished Alumni Awards were presented formally on May 3, 2008, in Pittsburgh, PA, during the Annual Alumni Day luncheon, where Moore gave an informal presentation highlighting her professional career.
According to the Web site for the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, "Nominees for the Distinguished Alumni Award must be a University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing program graduate and are considered on the basis of leadership, achievement and contribution in areas similar to the following: academia, administration, clinical practice, research, and service (professional and community.)."
