Masked gunman robs Mexican restaurant
A man who used his T-shirt to mask his face robbed a Burrito Boy restaurant at gunpoint Sunday night, Eugene police said.
The man pulled a handgun on an employee and left the restaurant at 1071 Valley
Witnesses described the man as about 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a thin build. He wore a University of Oregon baseball cap, jeans and a black T-shirt that he pulled up over his mouth and nose to conceal his identity during the robbery, Kletzok said.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 682-5111.
Ian, sick with flu, cancels Eugene performance
Folk singer/songwriter Janis Ian's Thursday show at the WOW Hall in Eugene has been canceled because the artist has the flu.
Ian has been touring in support of her autobiography and a collection of her best songs. But she has been advised by her doctor not to perform for the next few days, a publicist said Monday.
Ticket buyers can get a refund at the venue where they bought their ticket.

Collision with log truck kills woman in pickup
A 61-year-old Drain woman was killed Monday afternoon when the pickup she was driving was struck by an unloaded log truck as she attempted to pull onto Highway 42 about three miles south of Highway 101 in Coos County, the Oregon State Police said.
Apriel June Plumlee Stewart was stopped on Greenacres Road where it intersects with Highway 42 at about 4:50 p.m. when she entered from the north side of the highway across the westbound lanes, police said. She failed to yield and her 2002 GMC pickup was struck in the driver's side by a 1988 Freightliner log truck driven by Albert Nasby, 66, of North Bend.
Plumlee Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene. She was using safety restraints and her pickup's airbags deployed, police said. Nasby was using safety restraints and was uninjured.
Traffic was restricted to one lane for about 21/2 hours.
Creswell receives grant to fund nature projects
CRESWELL - The city of Creswell has received a $50,000 Youth Legacy grant to develop a nature park pavilion and interactive trail at Garden Lake Park.
Creswell was among five cities, along with Grass Valley, Hood River, Lebanon and Seaside, to receive the legacy grants, which totaled $202,425.
Authorities search for missing Ore. manThe grants are funded by the state Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Oregon 150, the group organizing the state's sesquicentennial.
The 50-50 matching grants are intended to create ways to connect children and communities with the natural world. They were announced Monday by former Oregon Gov. Barbara Roberts.
Police seeking leads?on man's whereabouts
OAKRIDGE - Authorities are seeking information that will help them find an Oakridge man who has been missing for more than a week.
John Wesley Hicks, who also goes by "Pete" and "Pee-Wee," was last seen on Sept. 7. A report was filed with Oakridge police on Sept. 13.
Hicks is 47, has blue eyes and is 5-foot-8. The police department describes him as having the mental abilities of a young teen.
Anyone with information on Hicks whereabouts is urged to call the Oakridge Police Department, 782-4232.
