Reitz, a labor and employment attorney, offers an overview of the labor and employment regulations of each of the EU's new members with the fifth and sixth enlargements in May 2004 and January 2007, as well as the Candidate States currently still in negotiations with the EU for membership. Designed to be reader-friendly rather than exhaustive, the book overviews some of the major issues related to hiring, terms and conditions, termination, discrimination, and business transfers in the covered jurisdictions. Itbook begins with a review of EU law and descriptions of European directives. Subsequent chapters are devoted to individual countries: the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the Republic of Turkey. Tables of statutes and EU legislation are also included.
