Chicago personal injury lawyer Robert A. Clifford will become chair of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation at the section's annual "Passing-of-the-Gavel" luncheon, to be held Monday, Aug. 6, from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Chicago,
Clifford will serve in this capacity through the ABA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., in August 2002.

Clifford has served in many leadership positions in the legal profession, including president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, member of the National Judicial College, and member of the Board of Directors of the Rand Institute for Civil Justice, a California-based think tank. He has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Clifford concentrates in aviation, transportation, personal injury, medical negligence and product liability law. He has been involved in many high-profile matters including the cases of violinist Rachel Barton and the United Airlines crash at Sioux City, Iowa.
Clifford is a graduate of DePaul University College of Law.
Held in conjunction with the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago, sessions for the Section of Litigation Annual Meeting begin on Friday, Aug. 3, and continue through Monday, Aug. 6, in Chicago. The University of Chicago's Gleacher Center, located off North Michigan Avenue, serves as the section's headquarters location for programming.
The ABA Section of Litigation includes approximately 60,000 trial lawyers, judges and others involved in all aspects of litigation and the dispute resolution process. The Section of Litigation is dedicated to promoting justice both domestically and internationally and enhancing public understanding of and respect for the legal profession.
