Improving health services.

Management Sciences for Health (MSH), based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, is offering two health resources:

* Management Strategies for Improving Health Services: A Compendium of "The Manager" Series presents strategies and techniques for addressing challenges in the provision and management

of health services. Comprised of volumes five through nine of MSH's periodical, The Manager, this 18-chapter book is organized into five sections: using information technologies; expanding the scope of services; increasing access to services; using data to improve services; and managing program resources. The book covers such topics as integrating services involving sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, into reproductive health programs and forming partnerships to improve public health. It also presents solutions to health service delivery problems from 23 countries. Cost is U.S. $40 for orders from North America, Western Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. The book is free for orders from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

* "Mobilizing Local Resources to Support Health Programs," Vol. 11, No. 2 of The Manager series, discusses how local resources can strengthen health services. The issue helps managers identify local resources, select strategies for mobilizing local resources, and assess the value of these resources to their organization or program. An accompanying case scenario may be used for professional development and training. This and other individual issues of The Manager are U.S. $5; subscriptions are U.S. $18 for orders from North America, Western Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and free for orders from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
