Funding proposals for integration of HIV and sexual and reproductive health care.

The Global AIDS Alliance, Interact Worldwide, the International HIM/AIDS Alliance, the International Planned Parenthood Federation and their Africa Regional Office, Friends of the Global Fund Africa, and Population Action International hosted the launch meeting for the "Mobilizing for RH/HIV Integration"

initiative 26-29 February 2008 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This initiative is designed to increase funding of integrated sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS services from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria through its Round 8 grant cycle, launched on 1 March 2008. The initiative will support ten focus countries in Round 8 proposal development: Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ghana, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Zambia. A Gender Fact Sheet accompanying the Round 8 Guidelines specifically states: "There are strong reasons for strengthening linkages between gender, HIV and sexual and reproductive health when addressing the needs of sexually active men, women and young people:'
