Making pretzels is easy and fun! You can also make yummy lowfat dips for your pretzels by blending cottage cheese or plain yogurt with lowfat salad dressings. Ask an adult to help you.

You Will Need:

1 envelope dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups


flour No-stick cooking spray Baking sheet Egg white (optional) Directions: 1. Wash your hands. Preheat the oven to 425[degrees] F. 2. In a large bowl, combine the yeast and water. Stir until dissolved. 3. Mix in the sugar and salt. 4. Blend in the flour a little at a time. 5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead (fold and squeeze) the dough until it forms a smooth ball. 6. Use your hands to roll the dough into a long "rope". Cut the rope into 8-inch pieces. 7. Spray the baking sheet with cooking spray. Form your pretzels right on the baking sheet. You can make any shape you like. (For shiny pretzels, brush the dough with egg white before baking.) Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with dip.
